Privacy Policy

ClipBrief is a creator research workspace operated by Ucar Studios LLC. You can save supported public short-form social links, generate transcripts and creator notes, organize boards, and create scripts based on clips you choose to analyze. Ucar Studios LLC is the controller for ClipBrief. You can contact us at clipbrief@ucarstudios.com.

Data we collect

• Account information, such as your email address, user ID, sign-in provider, optional display name, optional avatar, and creator profile details you choose to enter.
• User content you submit or create in ClipBrief, including public link URLs, transcripts, clip notes, AI chat prompts and responses, saved boards, captions, scripts, versions, avatars, clip thumbnails, and related metadata.
• Purchase entitlement records, such as Apple product IDs, Apple transaction identifiers, and an install-level App Store transaction identifier used to unlock subscriptions, reconcile purchases, and prevent free-trial abuse. ClipBrief does not receive your full payment card details.
• If you enable notifications, an Apple Push Notification service device token, an app-installation identifier, notification authorization status, reminder settings, time zone, and delivery history.
• App usage, diagnostics, performance data, IP addresses used transiently for rate limiting, and error logs used to keep the product reliable, prevent abuse, enforce fair-use limits, and improve the app.
• Support requests, including your message and any app version, build, or screen context you send with the request.

How we use data

• To provide the app's core features: authentication, clip transcription, brief generation, AI chat about a clip, boards, versions, profile memory, and subscription access.
• To process public link URLs, media fetched from those links, transcripts, prompts, profile context, and related content you submit so ClipBrief can generate transcripts, briefs, notes, and scripts for your account.
• To create aggregated, threshold-protected product insights about clip structures and creator segments. These insights do not expose another user's raw clip, transcript, link, profile, or identity.
• To secure the service, detect abuse, troubleshoot failures, enforce rate limits and fair-use limits, and prevent repeated use of a free trial from the same app installation.
• To route support messages, app version/build details, diagnostics, and analytics to the tools we use to fix issues and improve the creator workflow.
• To schedule the filming reminders you choose and deliver important operational, account, processing, or maintenance notifications. ClipBrief does not use push notifications for promotional offers.

AI and media processing

When you paste or share a supported public link, ClipBrief fetches and processes source media on its servers only to create the features you request. Raw audio and video from link-based media is handled transiently and is not stored by ClipBrief as a permanent media library. Transcripts, thumbnails, analysis, boards, scripts, and chat history may be stored so you can return to them later.

ClipBrief's service inputs are supported public links and text you choose to enter. Creator recordings made with the teleprompter remain on your device and are saved to your Photos library only when you choose to save them; ClipBrief does not send those recordings to its servers. Content retained from an earlier version of ClipBrief, if any, remains subject to the deletion controls and retention periods below.

The link, source media or audio processed at your direction, transcript, prompts, creator context, and related content may be sent to AI providers for transcription, analysis, and generation. Avatars and clip thumbnails may be served through public, unguessable Supabase Storage URLs so they can load in the app.

ClipBrief asks for your permission before sending your content to third-party AI providers. Signing out or deleting your account clears that permission. If you sign in again, ClipBrief asks again before the next AI submission. Clearing permission prevents future AI submissions; outputs already saved to your account remain until you delete the related content or delete your account.

Third-party providers

ClipBrief uses service providers to operate the app. We require them to process personal data only for the services they provide to ClipBrief and to protect it consistent with this Policy and applicable law. Their roles include:

• Supabase provides authentication, database, and storage services.
• Apple and Google provide account sign-in when you choose those options.
• OpenRouter routes transcription, analysis, and generation requests to selected underlying model providers, currently including Google and OpenAI. Groq and ElevenLabs may also provide transcription services for submitted content.
• PostHog provides first-party product analytics. Support message text is stored in Supabase and is not copied into PostHog analytics events.
• Resend delivers problem reports and feature requests to ClipBrief's support inbox so the team can review and reply to you.
• Apple processes App Store payments and delivers remote notifications through Apple Push Notification service (APNs). RevenueCat receives an SDK-generated identifier before sign-in, your ClipBrief user ID after sign-in, and purchase or subscription events to help reconcile entitlements and deliver billing notifications.
• Cloudflare and Hostinger provide infrastructure, delivery, and hosting support.

ClipBrief does not sell personal data, does not use cross-app tracking, and does not use ad networks.

Retention

• Account and profile information is kept until you delete your account.
• Clips, transcripts, briefs, boards, saved items, chat history, and versions are kept until you delete them or delete your account.
• Usage records are kept for the lifetime of your account so ClipBrief can enforce fair-use limits, subscription access, abuse controls, and trial limits.
• Support messages, diagnostics, and analytics records are kept for up to 12 months.
• Active push device registrations are kept while you are signed in and notifications remain available. Invalid tokens are disabled. Notification preferences and delivery history are removed when you delete your account.
• Server logs are kept on short rotation.

Your choices

• You can delete individual clips, boards, saved items, and profile details in the app.
• Deleting a clip removes it from future aggregated product-insight calculations.
• You can delete your ClipBrief account and app data from Settings. Deletion removes your account and stored user content, clears associated storage objects, and signs you out.
• You can manage or cancel Apple subscriptions through your Apple account subscription settings.
• You can change filming-reminder frequency or turn it off in Settings. You can manage all notification permission in iPhone Settings.

After deletion, residual diagnostics, analytics, error-monitoring records, or backup copies may persist briefly before they age out under the retention periods above. ClipBrief may also retain limited transaction, installation-level trial-use, security, or fraud-prevention records when reasonably necessary to comply with law, resolve transactions, prevent repeated trial abuse, or protect the service. These retained records are not used to restore your deleted content.

Submitted content and rights

You are responsible for the links and content you submit. Only submit content you own or created, or content you are authorized or otherwise permitted to analyze. ClipBrief is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or any other social platform.

Children

ClipBrief is not directed to children under 13. Do not use ClipBrief if you are under 13.

International transfers

ClipBrief is operated from the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Where required, transfers out of the EEA/UK rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.

Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on these bases: performance of a contract (to provide the app's core features you request — authentication, and sending the public links and text you submit to our AI providers for transcription, analysis, and brief generation); legitimate interests (to secure the service, prevent abuse, create privacy-protected product insights, and improve the product, balanced against your rights); and legal obligation (to comply with applicable law). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests as described below.

Your rights

You can request access to or deletion of your ClipBrief data by using the app settings or emailing clipbrief@ucarstudios.com. Depending on where you live, including in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to, or limit certain processing of your personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy as ClipBrief changes. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice where required.
